Filmmaker Major Ravi has officially announced his next project titled Pahalgam Op Sindoor, inspired by this year's Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Indian military response. The announcement was made on Sunday via social media, following the traditional pooja ceremony of the film’s script, which was held at the Mookambika Temple. The project is being produced by Presidential Movies International Pvt Ltd.
While the production house has not yet confirmed casting details, industry sources suggest that veteran actor and Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient Mohanlal is expected to headline the film. The speculation stems from a social media post shared in May by Anup Mohan of Presidential Movies International Pvt Ltd, who hinted at an upcoming collaboration between Mohanlal and Major Ravi, a post made roughly a fortnight after Operation Sindoor was carried out. An official confirmation from the actor or his team is awaited.
If confirmed, Pahalgam Op Sindoor would mark the actor-director duo’s sixth collaboration, following their army-based films Keerthichakra, Kurukshetra, Kandahar, and 1971: Beyond Borders, as well as the action thriller Karma Yodha. Their first association Keerthichakra earned Major Ravi, a retired Indian Army officer and former NSG commando, the Kerala State Film Award for Best Screenplay.
Notably, Presidential Movies International Pvt Ltd had earlier announced another project in 2024 with Major Ravi titled Operation Raahat, led by Tamil actor Sarath Kumar, and also released a teaser, though the current status of that film remains unknown.
Pahalgam Op Sindoor draws its premise from the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam attack, in which militants targeted tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 civilians. The incident prompted India’s retaliatory military campaign, Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025. The operation involved precision strikes on multiple terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, marking one of the most decisive counter-terror operations in recent years.
