Mohanlal-starrer Thudarum to release in Tamil as Thodarum, release date out

Mohanlal's Thudarum, the action-packed thriller laced with family drama that has become a blockbuster success, is set for its Tamil release under the title Thodarum. Announced by the makers through social media on Saturday, the dubbed version will hit theatres across Tamil Nadu on May 9. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, it tells the story of Shanmughan aka Benz (Mohanlal), a common man whose life spirals out of control after being targeted by corrupt policemen.

Thudarum has been lauded for its intense thrills and action sequences, with celebrated ad filmmaker Prakash Varma making his acting debut as the antagonist CI George. His performance, alongside Binu Pappu’s portrayal of the villain Benny, has garnered widespread attention. Following its release on April 25 in Malayalam, the film saw its Telugu-dubbed version hit theatres on April 26.

Thudarum also features Shobana, Farhaan Faasil, Mathew Thomas, and veteran actors like Maniyanpilla Raju and Bharathiraja. The film is co-written by Tharun and KR Sunil, with music by Jakes Bejoy and cinematography by Shaji Kumar. The makers have claimed that it has already earned over Rs 100 crore from the global box office, with industry trackers predicting that Thudarum will cross the Rs 150 crore mark by Sunday.
