Actor Shine Tom Chacko has publicly apologised to his co-star Vincy Aloshious, following a series of allegations made by her regarding inappropriate behaviour during the shooting of Soothravakyam. The apology was issued at a joint press conference held earlier on Tuesday, marking the first public appearance of the two actors together since the controversy erupted in mid-April.

The dispute began when Vincy, in a detailed Instagram video, spoke about her refusal to work with co-actors who use narcotics. Without naming anyone, she recounted a troubling experience on a film set where a male colleague, allegedly under the influence of drugs, behaved inappropriately towards her and another actress. She described incidents such as the actor offering to "fix" her costume in front of the crew and exhaling a white powdery substance during rehearsals.

Following the video, speculation grew online regarding the identity of the actor. A few days after, Vincy lodged a formal complaint with the Kerala Film Chamber and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the film Soothravakyam, formally naming Shine. This led to internal inquiries and a statement of support from the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), while the Kochi Excise Department also initiated a separate investigation into alleged on-set drug use.

On Tuesday’s press conference, Shine issued a public apology, stating, “If there was any problem from my side, I apologise. Nothing was done deliberately, and many remarks were made in jest.” Vincy, in turn, acknowledged his apology and stated that the matter should now be considered closed, expressing regret if Shine’s family had been affected by the controversy. The actors also confirmed that they had privately resolved the issue and expressed a shared commitment to moving forward.

Soothravakyam, which features both actors in key roles, is set to release in theatres on July 11.
