The makers of Soothravakyam, starring Shine Tom Chacko, Vincy Aloshious, and Deepak Parambol, unveiled the film’s trailer on Sunday. Slated to hit theatres on 11 July, it is written and directed by debutant Eugien Jos Chirammel from a story by Pendulum director Rejin S Babu.
The 2-minute, 4-second trailer of Soothravakyam opens with Vincy, who plays a teacher, complaining that no one attended her class because of Shine’s police officer character. We then see Shine questioning a group of children who have been skipping the teacher’s classes. As we catch glimpses of students from what appears to be a school run by a Christian missionary, Vincy is shown again, this time addressing Shine, lamenting that ever since he began his sessions, no one has been attending hers. Although these scenes are presented in a light-hearted tone, the mood shifts with the introduction of Deepak’s character, who says he has been enduring this humiliation since his teenage years. The tone turns darker as the trailer hints at a possible police investigation linked to a murder involving the school’s students. It promises an intriguing mystery thriller set against the backdrop of a school.
On the technical front, Soothravakyam has cinematography by Sreeram Chandrasekaran, editing by Nithish KTR, and music by Jean P Johnson. The film, presented by Kandragula Lavanya Rani, is produced by Srikanth Kandragula under the banner of Cinemabandi Productions in association with Saregama.
