Following the recent teaser release of L2: Empuraan, expectations for the film have sky-rocketed, with every new update eagerly awaited. Adding to the hype, director Prithviraj Sukumaran has hinted at the possibility of the film being released in IMAX. He wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, "Talk about destiny and divine intervention! Modern IMAX mastering technology is a thing of wonder! Let’s see.."

This tweet comes as an update to his recent interaction with one of his followers on X, who asked if he was planning to have a flat ratio version for Empuraan for both EPIQ and IMAX. In his initial reply, Prithviraj said the film was not shot with full format lenses and that he would "like to stick to anamorphics and 1:2.8 aspect ratio for all 3 films of this franchise." However, his latest tweet indicates that Empuraan's IMAX version is very much on cards.

L2: Empuraan marks the return of Mohanlal as the lead character Khureshi Ab'raam/Stephen Nedumbally. Murali Gopy has scripted the film, which has Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and Indrajith Sukumaran reprising their roles from Lucifer. Antony Permbavoor's Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions are together producing this biggie, slated for release on March 27 in multiple languages.
