Director Prithviraj Sukumaran has reiterated that the Mohanlal-starrer L2: Empuraan is part of a trilogy envisioned from the outset of Lucifer (2019). The filmmaker, responding to a social media query, also confirmed that all three instalments will maintain a consistent visual approach, shot using anamorphic lenses with a 1:2.8 aspect ratio. “I’d like to stick to anamorphics and 1:2.8 aspect ratio for all three films of this franchise,” Prithviraj stated.

Scripted by Murali Gopy, L2: Empuraan is scheduled for release worldwide on March 27. Both Prithviraj and Murali had previously emphasised that the franchise was conceived as a three-part series from its inception. The sequel also features the return of key cast members, including Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, Saikumar, and Nandu, alongside new additions yet to be revealed. The film's technical team remains largely unchanged, including cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev, composer Deepak Dev, and action choreographer Stunt Silva.

Produced by Aashirvad Cinemas in collaboration with Lyca Productions, L2:Empuraan will be released in Malayalam, and dubbed versions will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
