The makers of Mammootty's upcoming film Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, dropped the trailer on Tuesday.
The glimpse introduces Dominic (Mammootty) as the proprietor of Dominic Detective Agency, who is after lawbreakers to help the police in solving cases. The trailer is a mix of fun and action elements where Dominic is informed about a missing purse, which he is uninterested about at first, but the case gets murkier as it leads him to two missing persons and a murder. The film is expected to revolve around the events before and after the purse goes missing.
In an earlier conversation with CE, Neeraj revealed that Mammootty plays a private detective in Dominic and the Ladies' Purse. Billed as a comedy thriller, the actor’s character is said to embody a fun and quirky persona reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes. The film's ensemble cast also includes Gokul Suresh, Sushmitha Bhat, Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum-fame Viji Venkatesh, Shine Tom Chacko, Vineeth, Lena, Siddique, and Vijay Babu in significant roles. On the technical front, Gautham has brought in his regular collaborators, including editor Anthony, cinematographer Vishnu Dev (one of the directors of photography for Gautham’s yet-to-be-released film Dhruva Natchathiram) and composer Darbuka Siva, acclaimed for his work on the 2019 film Enai Noki Paayum Thota.
Interestingly, Gautham is also set to appear in a pivotal role in Mammootty’s Bazooka, directed by debutant Deeno Dennis, which is expected to be released later this year.
Meanwhile, Mammootty also has an untitled film with debutant Jithin K Jose, where the veteran actor reportedly plays the antagonist opposite Vinayakan, as part of his upcoming slate.
The film, that marks GVM's Malayalam debut, is set to release in theatres on January 23.
