Kunchacko Boban’s Officer on Duty, currently enjoying a successful run at the box office, is set for dubbed releases in Tamil and Telugu. As announced by the makers, both versions will be released in March, though an exact date is yet to be confirmed. The dubbing rights for the film, directed by debutant Jithu Ashraf, have been acquired by E4 Entertainment.
Following its original Malayalam release on February 20, Officer on Duty has received generally positive reviews from both critics and audiences. After a stellar opening weekend, the film's box office performance has continued to strengthen, with increasing trends in subsequent days, according to data provided by the makers based on bookings listed on the BookMyShow app. Trade tracker What The Fuss reports that the film has grossed over Rs 10 crore in Kerala after six days in theatres.
Scripted by Shahi Kabir, Officer on Duty also features Priyamani, Jagadish and Vishak Nair in key roles. The film has cinematography by Kannur Squad director Roby Varghese Raj, music composed by Jakes Bejoy and editing by Chaman Chakko. It is produced by Martin Prakkat Films in collaboration with The Green Room, headed by Siby Chavara and Ranjith Nair.
An excerpt from the CE review of Office on Duty reads, "Debutant director Jithu Ashraf shows great urgency with how he sets up the initial half of the film. Harishankar's investigation into a petty chain case leads him to a series of grave crimes that also involve his family. Unlike Shahi's usual works, the screenplay here is racy without offering much of a breathing space, neither for the characters in it nor for the viewers."
