After clearing all legal hurdles, Shane Nigam's Haal is finally set to hit screens on December 25. The film now joins Mohanlal's Vrusshabha, Nivin Pauly's Sarvam Maya, and the Biju Menon-Joju George film Valathu Vashathe Kallan, all of which are slated for release on Christmas Day.

Haal, a romantic drama directed by debutant Veeraa and scripted by Nishad Koya, was in the news after the Censor Board demanded the removal of certain portions, including a scene featuring the consumption of beef biryani. In response, the makers approached the High Court challenging the decision.

Though the CBFC had maintained that screening permission would be granted only if the said portions were removed, a Single Bench struck down four of these proposed cuts. Appeals filed by the CBFC and the Catholic Congress against this order were later dismissed. The film has eventually been censored with a UA 16+ certificate.

Debutante Sakshi Vaidya plays the female lead in Haal, which also stars Johny Antony, Madhupal, Sangeetha Madhavan Nair, Joy Mathew, Nishant Sagar, Niyas Becker, Riyaz Narmakala, Suresh Krishna, Raveendran, Sohan Seenulal, Manoj KU, Unniraja, and Sreedhanya. The film has music by Nandhagopan V, cinematography by Ravi Chandran, and editing by Akash Joseph Varghese. Juby Thomas produces it under the banner of JVJ Productions.

Shane's last release was the Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Balti. He also has Dridam, a thriller in which he plays a cop, gearing up for release.
