Earlier today, we reported about the Ernakulam Principal District and Sessions Court finding Dileep not guilty in the actor abduction and assault case. Reactions have started to come in from within the Malayalam film industry and beyond regarding the verdict. Take producer G Suresh Kumar, for example. Speaking to the media about it, Suresh said, "It is a very good verdict." He also claimed that a senior police officer once told him that Dileep was "trapped" in the case. The producer alleged that the case turned against Dileep and went on for so long because of "some people's vested interest," calling it a wrong practice.
After the verdict, Dileep claimed that law enforcement tried to frame him in the case in order to tarnish his image and "destroy" his career.
Suresh Kumar added that there might also have been a similar attempt from those within the film industry. "It is likely. I do not want to mention anyone's name. However, there are some people like that in the film industry. I do not want to say who they are and am not interested in it either," the producer said, suggesting that they might also be part of the alleged conspiracy against Dileep.
G Suresh Kumar is the first person from the film industry to meet the actor when the latter in jail. At the time, too, he told the media that the case against the actor was a planned attempt to frame him. The producer claimed that the media was "torturing" the actor with their own "trial" at the time. Dileep was classified as the eight accused in the actor abduction and assault case.
