While Mammootty the actor has acted in more than 400+ films, Mammootty the producer has backed less than 10 projects. Under his Mammootty Kampany banner, the upcoming thiller, Kalamkaval will be the seventh production venture.

While speaking about how he chooses projects to produce, Mammootty said, "Those are films which we can predict to have a definite commercial success. But beyond the commercial aspect, there needs to be a unique aspect to them like Rorshach, Kannur Squad, or Turbo."

Mammootty also reveals that in the course of making more than 400 films, the actor has listened to more than 5000 stories.

Mammootty also added that while reading the script for Kalamkaval, he wanted to play the 'other character'. Kalamkaval was previously rumoured to be based on the real-life cast of Cyanide Mohan, but Mammootty refuted those rumours.

Vinayakan and Rajisha Vijayan, also star in Kalamkaval, which is directed by Jithin K Jose, in his directorial debut. Jithin also composed and wrote lyrics for one single, 'Redback'.

Adoor Gopalakrishnan recently confirmed that he will be reuniting with Mammootty for a film, which will be backed by Mammootty Kampany.
