Malayalam rapper Hirandas Murali, popularly known as Vedan, is facing fresh sexual assault allegations even as the Kerala High Court prepares to hear his anticipatory bail plea on Monday. Two women, both PhD researchers, have reportedly approached Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with complaints, alleging assaults in December 2020 and 2021. The Chief Minister is expected to forward the complaints to the state police for investigation.

Vedan has been absconding since late July, following a rape case registered by Thrikkakkara police. The original complaint, filed by a young doctor, alleges repeated sexual abuse between 2021 and 2023 under the promise of marriage, occurring across Kozhikode, Kochi and Eloor. The complainant also accused Vedan of emotional trauma and borrowing money from her during the relationship.

The Kochi City police had earlier issued a lookout notice to prevent Vedan from leaving the country. A live performance scheduled for August 10 was cancelled amid police scrutiny. Vedan has denied all allegations, calling them attempts to malign his image. Police sources said the new complaints would be investigated thoroughly, with further legal action anticipated.
