Rapper Vedan continues to be at the centre of controversies. Recently, the rapper courted controversy for the possession of a tiger tooth and cannabis consumption. In the latest incident, a doctor has levelled rape accusations against the embattled rapper. A case has been filed at the Thrikkakara police station against the musician, known for his anti-caste songs and his lyrics for the track 'Kuthanthram' from Manjummel Boys.
As per law enforcement, Vedan became friends with the complainant through Instagram four years ago. Subsequently that year, the rapper allegedly went to the complainant's house and sexually abused her. Reportedly, she thought about going down the legal way before Vedan made a marriage promise, only to sexually assault her further. According to the complaint, Vedan had raped her five times, and he maintained a distance from her since 2023 that eventually drove her into a traumatic state. The complainant is set to make a more detailed statement on record soon, in addition to law enforcement recording her account of events confidentially in court.
Denying the accusations against him, Vedan claimed that the latest complaint is a deliberate scheme to tarnish his reputation. He also revealed that he would go to the court in search of anticipatory bail and has what it takes legally to substantiate his claims.
Vedan had faced sexual assault allegations from another woman in the past. The inclusion of his lyrics in the syllabus at Calicut University faced objection from some, thanks to the rapper's troubled legal history.
