Lovely trailer: Mathew's film promises to be a heartwarming fantasy around a talking fly

Ahead of its theatrical release on May 2, the makers of the Mathew Thomas-starrer Lovely have unveiled the film’s trailer. Written and directed by Dileesh Karunakaran (formerly known as Dileesh Nair), it marks his return to wielding the megaphone after his debut with Tamaar Padaar. He is also known for co-writing acclaimed titles such as Salt N' Pepper, Da Thadiya, Idukki Gold, and Mayaanadhi.

Billed as a 3D fantasy comedy-drama, Lovely’s trailer opens with the protagonist Boney (Mathew) expressing his desire to migrate to Canada, seeking better opportunities than what he finds in a developing country like India. The visuals then show glimpses of Boney’s life, seemingly as a government employee, before he is seen behind the bars of a prison cell, where he encounters a talking fly. The narrative hints at a bond forming between Boney and the fly, suggesting a story filled with wonder, magical realism, and emotional depth, promising a heartwarming fantasy adventure.

Lovely's cast also features Unnimaya Prasad, Manoj K Jayan, Aswathy Ramachandran, Prashanth Murali, Baburaj, Joemon Jothir, Arun Pradeep, Sreejith Ravi, Jayashankar, Ashlin, and Arun, among others. The technical crew includes music director Vishnu Vijay and editor Kiran Das. Notably, director Aashiq Abu made his debut as a cinematographer with this film, a project completed principal photography prior to the production of his last directorial, Rifle Club (2024).
