Ahead of its release on October 17, the makers of Amal Neerad's Bougainvillea have unveiled separate posters featuring the principal cast along with their respective character names on Tuesday. The film features Jyothirmayi as Reethu, Kunchacko Boban as Royce Thomas, and Fahadh Faasil as David Koshy in the lead roles. It also stars Sharaf U Dheen as Biju, Veena Nandakumar as Meera, and Srinda as Rema.

Bougainvillea also marks the return of Jyothirmayi, Amal's wife, after a break of over a decade. The film has been jointly scripted by novelist Lajo Jose and Amal, with additional dialogues provided by R J Murugan, known for his contributions to Amal's previous directorial, Bheeshma Parvam.

The director has retained nearly the same technical team from his previous project for Bougainvillea, including cinematographer Anend C Chandran, editor Vivek Harshan, and composer Sushin Shyam. The film is bankrolled by Jyothirmayi and Kunchacko Boban under the banners of Amal Neerad Productions and Udaya Pictures, respectively. There have been unconfirmed reports suggesting that it is an adaptation of Lajo's crime thriller novel Ruthinte Lokam.
