Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is busy shooting the upcoming much-anticipated Lucifer sequel Empuraan with Mohanlal has announced that the film is in its final leg of production. The film will release in theatres worldwide on March 27, 2025.

Mohanlal returns as Khureshi-Ab'raam, also known as Stephen Nedumpally, in the Lucifer sequel, touted as the costliest feature film in Malayalam cinema.

The returning cast also includes Prithviraj as Zayed Masood, the right-hand-man of Khureshi-Ab'raam. Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Saikumar, and Nandu also reprise their roles from the first part. Prithviraj is directing the film from a screenplay by his Lucifer collaborator Murali Gopy.

The makers are yet to reveal plot details, but judging by the climax of Lucifer, it promises to tell the story of Khureshi-Ab'raam, the leader of an international crime syndicate.

Deepak Dev, Sujith Vaassudev, and Stunt Silva come back as the editor, cinematographer, and action choreographer, respectively. Empuraan has also been extensively shot across Kerala, Chennai, Ladakh, the UK, and the US. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor through his banner Aashirvad Cinemas in association with Lyca Productions.
