Recently, we reported about a woman accusing Nivin Pauly and five others of sexually assaulting her at a Dubai hotel last year and an FIR being filed in relation to it at the Oonnukal Police Station. The latest from the case is that Nivin has been found not guilty of the allegation against him. Police recently filed a report at Kothamangalam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court to discharge the actor from the case.

Earlier, the complainant had alleged that she went to the hotel in Dubai after receiving an offer for a role in a film starring Nivin. As per the woman, following the rape, the accused shot her on camera and threatened that they would release the footage. She also claimed that she decided to reveal the incident to the public after many women raised complaints of sexual offences by film industry people, some of which came in the Justice Hema Committee report.

A team under DYSP TM Varghese conducted an investigation, in which they discovered that Nivin was not even in Dubai at the time of the alleged incident. The investigation team looked at the actor's mobile phone and travel history, including entries on his passport.

"We could not find any evidence against Nivin. The allegation raised by the complainant against Nivin did not corroborate with evidence we collected as part of the probe. But there is evidence against other accused persons in the case. Hence, we decided to discharge Nivin from the case. The report was given to remove him from the accused list," an officer said.

Immediately after the event, actor-director Vineeth Sreenivasan released documents revealing that Nevin was in Kochi on December 14 and 15, for the shoot of their film Varshangalkku Shesham. Nivin immediately denied the allegations in a press conference. In a social media post, responding to the news, the actor said, "Heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood by me. Thanks for all the love, prayers and support."
