Arjun Ashokan to headline Sumathi Valavu, a horror fantasy

Malikappuram-fame Vishnu Sasi Shankar is directing the film

Arjun Ashokan is set to play the lead in a new horror fantasy titled Sumathi Valavu. The film was announced with a motion poster, which details about a haunted place called Sumathi Valavu and how it has been gaurded by the spirit of a Tamil woman named Sumathi from the 18th century. It is written by Abhilash Pillai and directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar, marking their reunion after the blockbuster, Malikappuram (2022).

Sumathi Valavu has Malavika Manoj as the female lead. Though the actor made her debut with Prakashan Parakatte (2022), she is best known for her role in the Tamil film, Joe (2023). The upcoming film also stars Saiju Kurup, Malikappuram-fame Devananda, Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju, Jean Paul Lal, Gopika Anil and Premalu actors Shyam Mohan and Akhila Bhargavan.

Dinesh Purushothaman is the cinematographer and music is by Ranjin Raj. Murali Kunnumpurath is producing the film, which is slated to go on floors in August.
