Earlier, we had reported that actor Nandu will be a part of Mohanlal's Empuraan, the highly anticipated sequel to Lucifer, directed by Prithviraj Sukumar and written by Murali Gopy. On Saturday, the actor took to social media to share a couple of behind-the-scenes (BTS) photos from the sets, alongside Manju Warrier and Saikumar. Sharing the photos, Nandu wrote that his character Peethambaran is in the sequel and added, "Met Priyadarsini Ramdas and Varma sir after a long time,” referring to Manju and Saikumar's characters from Lucifer. Interestingly, the original film featured Nandu's Landmaster car as Mohanlal's ride, which he sold to Prithviraj.

Empuraan also stars Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas and Indrajith Sukumaran in prominent roles, reprising their roles from the 2019 film. Tamil cinema's leading banner, Lyca Productions, is making its Malayalam debut with Empuraan, as they back it in association with Aashirvad Cinemas. The film's technical crew is almost the same as Lucifer's, including cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev, composer Deepak Dev, art director Mohandas, and action choreographer Stunt Silva.

Empuraan, which began filming in October last year, recently completed its third schedule, majorly shot in the United States of America. It is planned as a multilingual, with release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
