On Sunday, actor Mohanlal and director Sibi Malayil unveiled a new poster of Devadoothan (2000) through their social media handles, as the film is gearing up for a theatrical rerelease. As per the makers, it has been remastered in 4K resolution with Dolby Atmos sound mixing.

Devadoothan revolves around Vishal Krishnamoorthy (Mohanlal), a gifted musician haunted by an enigmatic spirit that inspires his compositions. As he delves deeper into the mystery, he uncovers secrets from the past that intertwine with his own life and music. The film, which blended romantic and supernatural tropes, turned out to be a colossal failure at the box office. However, over the years, it has achieved a cult following among cinephiles for its unique narrative.

Devadoothan, written by veteran Raghunath Paleri, also starred Jaya Prada, Vineeth Kumar, Murali, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Jagadish in prominent roles. The film is also renowned for Vidyasagar's soundtrack, often regarded as one of his finest compositions.

Meanwhile, the iconic Mohanlal-starrer Manichitrathazhu (1993) is also preparing for a rerelease, scheduled to hit screens in July. Earlier, the actor's 1995 film Spadikam was rereleased in 2023 to great reception.
