Actor Anoop Menon unveiled the first-look poster of his upcoming film, Checkmate, on his social media handles. Billed as a suspense thriller "shot entirely in New York and various parts of America," it is directed by debutant Ratish Sekhar, who also serves as the writer, cinematographer, and composer.

Describing it as the "most expensive film" of his career, the lead actor added that Checkmate is "the love child of a group of super-talented American Malayalees." In addition to Anoop, the film features Lal and Rekha Harindran in the lead roles. It also stars Raji Arun, Sowmya Rajan, Shyam Krishna and Viswam Nair, among others. The editing is handled by Prejish Prakash, while the background score is composed by Ruslan Perezhilo.

Last seen in the Tovino Thomas-starrer Nadikar, Anoop is awaiting the release of Ideem Minnalum, which also stars Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead.
