Prithviraj Sukumaran and wife Supriya Menon to co-own Kochi FC in Super League Kerala

The inaugural edition of the football championship will be held in September this year

Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and his wife Supriya Menon, also a producer, have acquired stakes in a football team in the upcoming Super League Kerala (SLK) Football Championship. The couple have invested in Kochi FC, one of the six teams competing in the league. Kochi FC is owned by Indian tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi, CEO of SG Sports and Entertainments, and his wife, actor Lara Dutta.

The championship, organised by Kerala Football association and Scoreline Sports Private Limited, intends to enhance the rich football ecosystem in the state. According to a statement from Prithviraj and Supriya, by acquiring the stakes, they aim to provide a platform for budding football talents in the region, creating opportunities for players to shine. The inaugural edition will be held in September this year.

Prithviraj is currently directing L2: Empuraan, the sequel to his directorial debut, Lucifer (2019). The actor was last seen in Malayalam in Guruvayoorambala Nadayil, which started streaming on Disney+ Hotstar recently. The film, co-produced by Supriya, was a blockbuster in theatres.
