Kamal Haasan has received honorary membership in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) from the organisation's general secretary, actor Siddique. UlagaNayagan Kamal Haasan sir received our honorary membership and initiated our membership campaign.... Wishes for Indian2 on behalf of our whole AMMA family sir..."

Kamal was in Kochi as part of promotions for his latest release Indian 2, the long-in-the-making sequel to his 1996 vigilante film, directed by Shankar. His membership in AMMA marks a new connection for the actor to Malayalam cinema, in which he acted many times, first in his childhood and later in his adulthood.

Earlier this year, Mohanlal was reelected president of AMMA for the third successive time.
