Suraj Venjaramoodu to headline Kappela director Muhammed Musthafa's next

After the success of Kappela, actor-turned-filmmaker Muhammed Musthafa is set to direct a new film with Suraj Venjaramoodu as the lead. The film, which has its story by Suresh Babu, also stars Kani Kusruti, Hridhu Haroon, Maala Parvathi and Kannan Nayar. A bunch of newcomers are also part of the cast.

Though Musthafa's directorial debut Kappela, starring Anna Ben, Roshan Mathew and Sreenath Bhasi, was a moderate success at the box office, it got noticed widely post its digital release on Netflix. It was selected for screening at the 2020 editions of the International Film Festival of India and the International Film Festival of Kerala. Besides this, the film also won Anna Ben the Kerala state award for best actress, while Musthafa was chosen as the best director. It also got remade in Telugu as Butta Bomma.

Meanwhile, Musthafa's sophomore film with Suraj is set to start rolling on Wednesday in Thiruvananthapuram. Produced by Riya Shibu's HR Pictures, it has cinematography by Fazil Nassar, editing by Chaman Chakko and music by Midhun Mukundan.
