Actor Vidya Balan shared a video on Instagram where she appears to lip sync for a line from the 1991 Malayalam comedy Mookilla Rajyathu. She recites the scene from the movie where one character tells the rest to repeat what he says, and as he looks for the line, he realises that he forgot its manuscript. He speaks this out loud, and the other characters join him, leading to a hilarious moment that reminds the audience of the fun aspect of acting.

In the caption, the actor says that she has been watching Malayalam films over the last two weeks and that the video is a homage to her Keralite roots. Vidya has a connection to Kerala, as her father's native place is Palakkad.

The actor's only appearance in Malayalam cinema came as a cameo in Santosh Sivan's Urumi, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Genelia D'Souza, Nithya Menon, Prabhu Deva, and Jagathy Sreekumar. Vidya made her acting debut in Goutam Halder's Marathi film Bhalo Theko. However, she could have debuted in Malayalam cinema had her partially shot film with Mohanlal, director Lohithadas' Chakram, been made with the same lead cast as planned.
