Soon after confirming its sequel, Marco star Unni Mukundan announced that the action film will release in Telugu on New Year's Day. Billed as the most violent Indian film ever, Marco has opened to a polarising response from reviewers, with many of them praising the film's technical aspects while criticising its writing, especially the dialogues. However, the Haneef Adeni directorial has gained a good reception from audiences at the global box office. According to Sacnilk, it has raked in around 50 crore in the first week of its release in Malayalam.

As per reports, the level of violence in Marco goes beyond any such action film to ever come out in Indian cinema. Some viewers compare it to films such as Dharma Productions' Kill, starring Lakshya and Raghav Juyal.

The cast of Marco also includes Siddique, Jagadish, Abhimanyu Thilakan, Kabir Duhan Singh, Anson Paul, and Yukti Thareja. Unni and Siddique also played sibling characters with the same names in Haneef's own Mikhael, but the film's makers have not marketed it as a spinoff of the 2019 Nivin Pauly headliner.
