For a while now, there have been speculations about Mohanlal teaming up with director Jithu Madhavan, known for helming the hit horror comedy Romancham and this year's blockbuster film, Aavesham. Our sources close to Sree Gokulam Movies indicate that the production house will be backing the Mohanlal-Jithu film, which is planned as a thorough commercial entertainer. The makers are planning to go on floors by mid-2025. Notably, the banner had earlier associated with Mohanlal in Kayamkulam Kochunni, in which he played a cameo role.

Mohanlal is currently awaiting the release of his directorial debut Barroz, a 3D fantasy film, set to hit screens on December 25. His next release after that will be Thudarum, directed by Saudi Vellakka-fame Tharun Moorthy, on January 30, 2025. It will be followed by L2: Empuraan, the sequel to Lucifer, slated for release on March 27, 2025.

Mohanlal is presently shooting for Mahesh Narayanan's multistarrer film, which also stars Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, and Nayanthara. This year, the actor also has Sathyan Anthikad’s Hridayapoorvam and the multilingual period film Vrushabha as part of his lineup.

Meanwhile, Jithu Madhavan is also scripting and co-producing a film titled Painkili. The film, which marks the maiden directorial of actor Sreejith Babu, is headlined by Anaswara Rajan and Sajin Gopu.
