Actor Ranjini has commented on the release of the Hema Committee report as a win for women in the film industry, praising the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) for their significant contribution to the formation of this committee. She congratulated the WCC and explained to the media that there was no instruction to keep the report confidential, although she admitted she had not yet fully read it.

Ranjini expressed satisfaction that her proposal for an Entertainment Tribunal was included in the report, indicating that further details would be provided after consulting with her legal team. She also noted that a specific cell to address women’s complaints is still lacking, and issues persist within the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). According to Ranjini, such committees will never fully resolve the industry's problems. She reiterated that she had previously raised these concerns before the committee.

Ranjini had earlier sought to prevent the report’s release, but her petition was dismissed by the High Court, which directed her to approach the Single Bench. She had requested that the court ensure the report did not infringe on privacy rights.

The committee was established to examine the issues faced by women working in the Malayalam film industry, particularly in the wake of the actress assault case in 2017 that led to the arrest and trial of actor Dileep.
