The Kishkindha Kaandam production banner, Goodwill Entertainments, released the first teaser for the film a while ago. The teaser hints at a thriller set in a forest reserve area called Kallepathi. Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali seem to be playing husband and wife in the film, and Vijayaraghavan the former's father. From the trailer, it seems like Vijayaraghavan’s character is an erstwhile forest range officer. The teaser refers to the imposition of Section 144 in the area following a public threat and strong Naxal movements ranging back to the 1970s. The cast also includes Nishan, Jagadish, Ashokan, Nizhalgal Ravi, Shebin Benson, Major Ravi, and Kottayam Ramesh.

Dinjith Ayyathan of Kakshi Amminipilla fame directed Kishkindha Kaandam from a screenplay by Bahul Ramesh, who also doubles up as the film's cinematographer. The film reunites Asif and Dinjith after Kakshi Amminipilla.

Kishkindha Kaandam is produced by Joby George under the Goodwill Entertainments banner. The makers wrapped up production on the film in August last year. Music director Sushin Shyam and editor Sooraj ES are also part of the technical team.
