Jananam 1947 Pranayam Thudarunnu, the Malayalam film helmed by the debutant director Abijith Asokan, who wrote the Kerala State award-winning film Kolumittayi,  has been selected for the prestigious Atlanta Indian Film Festival. The film features Kozhikkode Jayaraj and Leela Samson as the main leads.

In an earlier conversation with CE, Abijith said, "The titular 'Pranayam' refers to the love story between a teacher residing at a retirement home and a widower employed there. These are two characters looking to build a home. So, at age 70, they remarry and happily live together. That's what the film is in a nutshell. It's a lighthearted story."

It is to be noted that Kozhikode Jayaraj has been in the industry as a junior artiste for around 50 years. Jananam: 1947 Pranayam Thudarunnnu... marks his first lead role; on the other hand, Leela Samson is best known for her appearances in OK Kanmani and Priyan Ottathilaanu.

The other cast members include Pauly Valsan, Anu Sithara, Noby Marcose, Nandhan Unni, Deepak Parambol, and Irshad Ali. The film's technical crew comprises cinematographer Santhosh Anima, editor Kiran Das and music director Govind Vasantha.
