Speculations were rife that Empuraan, the much-anticipated sequel to Mohanlal's  Lucifer, would have a promo shoot planned in the next week. However, Prithviraj Sukumaran, the helmer of the upcoming film, refuted the rumours by confirming there will be no “promo” or a “promo shoot” for Empuraan.

Taking to his X handle (formerly known as Twitter), Prithviraj wrote," Not too sure where the news is from, but L2E Empuraan will have no “promo” or a “promo shoot” per se. We are just planning to put out something sometime this month to announce the start of shoot date and a few other details on the project. Thank you"

It was earlier reported that the film's first schedule would begin in Delhi by the first week of October and then shift to Ladakh. Earlier this year, the makers shared a recce video for the film. It is intended that the film is planned to be shot across India and in foreign locations.

Further details about the upcoming project, including the cast, are yet to be revealed. However, the makers have retained almost the same technical team from Lucifer. It includes cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev, composer Deepak Dev and action choreographer Stunt Silva.

It is to be noted that Empuraan's shooting was supposed to begin in August, but an unexpected injury to Prithviraj during the filming of Vilayath Buddha forced a change in plans.
