Alphonse Puthren reveals having Autism Spectrum Disorder; Deletes post later 

The director's post said that he will be quitting  his "cinema theatre career"

On Monday, director Alphonse Puthren who is known for his films like Premam, Neram and Gold, took to Instagram to post a note saying that he will be quitting his "cinema theatre career". However, soon after that, the director took down the post.

In a screenshot of the note posted by several on social media, Alphonse's note read, "I'm stopping my cinema theatre career. I have Autism Spectrum Disorder which I found out yesterday on my own."

The director also mentioned that he does not want to be a "burden to anyone". While he added that he will continue to do songs, videos and short films, along with OTT content, he said he does not want to quit cinema. "But I have no other option. I don't want to make promises that I can't keep. When health is weak or unpredictable life brings a twist like an interval punch,” Alphonse concluded.

Since the filmmaker took down the post, clarity on the issue is awaited.

Meanwhile, Alphonse last directed Malayalam film Gold starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Nayanthara. He also announced his Tamil film Gift with cast of Sandy, Kovai Sarala, Sahana Sarvesh, Magalakshmi Sudarshan.
