The Proposal, the Malayalam film written and directed by Joe Joseph, bagged the Cinematic Excellence Award at IIFTC( Indian International Film Tourism Conclave) held in Mumbai.

The Proposal is regarded as the first Malayalam film shot entirely in Australia. This speciality has made the film worthy of recognition. Other films recognised at the ceremony include Rocketry-The Nambi Effect from Tamil, RRR from Telugu, Raymo from Kannada and Gujarati film Hoon Tari Heer. 

The film released in Saina Play the previous year stars Joe Joseph, Anumod Paul, Amara Raja, Claire Sarah Martin, Suhas Patathil and Karthika Menon Thomas.
