Mammootty's Kannur Squad has entered its second week of theatrical run and continues to do well at the box office. The investigative thriller, directed by Roby Varghese Raj, is inspired by the real story of a group of policemen called the Kannur Squad, who were entrusted with solving challenging cases. The film has largely met with positive response, with many industry insiders also heaping praise. 

Recently, actor-director Vineeth Sreenivasan shared a social media note praising Mammootty and the whole team of Kannur Squad. In his post, Vineeth mentioned Mammootty's stellar performance and his choice of films lately, both as an actor and producer. It must be noted that the film is produced by the veteran's banner, Mammootty Kampany. Vineeth also lauded the efforts of director Roby, actor-writer Rony David Raj and music director Sushin Shyam, whom he called 'the true social worker of Malayalam cinema'. 

Kannur Squad has its story by Muhammed Shafi, who has also co-written the screenplay with Rony David Raj. The latter is also part of the cast, which includes Kishore, Shabareesh Varma and Azeez Nedumangad and Vijayaraghavan in key roles.
