Kannada actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty has joined the cast of Mammootty's much-anticipated film Turbo. It marks his second outing in Malayalam cinema. His debut film Rudhiram, also starring Aparna Balamurali, is still in production.

Mammootty's home banner, Mammootty Kampany which is producing the film, announced the news on their social media handles. Earlier, the makers welcomed actor Sunil to the film's cast.

Turbo has Vishnu Sarma as the cinematographer, while music and editing will be handled by Justin Varghese and Shameer Muhammed, respectively.

Directed by Vyaskh, Turbo marks Mammootty's third collaboration with the director after Pokkiri Raja and Madhura Raja.

Turbo, said to be an action-heavy film, will have Mammootty sporting a new look. While the makers are yet to reveal any other details, it is speculated to be the revamped version of Turbo Peter, which Midhun Manuel was supposed to direct with Jayasurya.

Turbo will be distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s production house Wayfarer Films.

Raj is best known for his films Ondu Motteya Kathe and Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana, both of which had him as the lead actor and director. He was last seen in Toby, which was also dubbed and released in Malayalam. The film is directed by debutant Basil Alchalakkal.
