Makers of the Malayalam film Vela celebrated the film's success with legendary actor Mammootty by cutting a cake. The film stars Shane Nigam and Sunny Wayne, in the lead roles, hit the theatres on November 10. The film also stars actor-filmmaker Sidharth Bharathan as a pivotal character. 

Directed by Syam Sasi and scripted by Sajas, Vela opened to positive receptions from audiences and critics. An excerpt from the CE review of the film read, " Vela is a showcase for Sunny Wayne's finest performance since Appan and Adithattu. It's a testament to the truism that the man can deliver a screen-chewing turn when he is in the company of a script and a filmmaker capable of extracting the best out of him, even when the film may not offer complete satisfaction." 

The film is shot by Suresh Rajan and edited by Mahesh Bhuvanend. Its music is handled by Tamil composer Sam CS, whose last Malayalam outing was the blockbuster RDX.

Presented by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films, Vela is produced by S George under the banner of Cyn-Cyl Celluloid.
