Prithviraj Sukumaran and the team have been on a location recce, in recent times, for Empuraan, the upcoming sequel to Lucifer, starring Mohanlal.

While the Lucifer franchise is written by Murali Gopy and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the latter took to social media handles to reflect on his association with the scenarist. Meanwhile, filming for Empuraan is expected to commence this year. And recently, on May 20, marking the occasion of Mohanlal's birthday, the makers released a special poster featuring the title, L2E, and birthday wishes, "Happy Birthday Khureshi Ab'Raam.
