Veteran producer PKR Pillai passes away

Pillai was best known for his collaboration with Mohanlal during the late 80s and 90s

Veteran producer-distributor Parisapparambil Kunjan Pillai Ramachandran Pillai, popularly known as PKR Pillai passed away on Tuesday. He was 92.

PKR Pillai produced his films under the banner, Shirdi Sai Creations and distributed films through Shirdi Sai Release. Pillai's debut production was Vepraalam (1984), starring Sukumari, Adoor Bhasi, Lakshmi and Menaka in the lead roles.

Pillai was best known for his collaboration with Mohanlal during the late 80s and 90s. They worked together in blockbusters like Chithram, Vandanam and critically acclaimed films like Amrutham Gamaya and Aham. 

On Pillai's demise, Mohanlal shared a note on social media about their brotherly bond. The superstar also expressed his gratitude to Pillai for all his support and love that was instrumental in his growth in cinema. It is said that Mohanlal used to financially help Pillai and his family during his last days.
