The sensational Naatu Naatu from RRR made history at the 95th Academy Awards by bagging the award for Best Original Song. It is the first time an Indian production has won in the category. The MM Keeravani composition, released in multiple Indian languages, has got millions across the globe dancing to its desi beats.

Yazin Nizar, who sang the Tamil and Malayalam versions of the song, is extremely excited about the historic win. "I'm just so happy for Keeravani sir. The man has been working hard for so many decades, and it was so gratifying to see him being honoured on the Oscars stage."

Though it has been almost two years, Yazin still has vivid memories of the recording sessions and the inputs he got from director SS Rajamouli. "He was present for the recording of Naatu Koothu, the Tamil version of Naatu Naatu. Initially, when I sang, there was some crunchy feel to it. Rajamouli sir then came up to me and asked me to be more powerful. I understood why he was so particular when I saw the mind blowing energy in the visuals. That's one thing with these guys, they always deliver beyond our expectations," says Yazin, who has earlier worked with the same team in the Malayalam version of Baahubali 2.
