It was in November 2022 that Nivin Pauly's Thaaram went on floors. However, its production got stalled soon after. While there were speculations about the makers dropping the project entirely, Nikhila Vimal, who was supposed to play one of the female leads in it, has revealed that its production is likely to resume in September. The actor was speaking at the press meet of her recently released Tamil film, Por Thozhil.

Thaaram is directed by Vinay Govind, who earlier made Kili Poyi and Kohinoor. He is also scripting the film with Vivek Ranjit. Along with Nivin and Nikhila, the original cast also had Vinay Forrt, Pathonpatham Noottandu fame Kayadu Lohar and Krishna Sankar. On the technical front, cinematographer Pradeesh Varma, editor Arjun Benn and music director Rahul Raj were initially announced to be part of the crew. It remains to be seen if the same team will be retained when production resumes.

Nivin recently wrapped up shooting for Haneef Adeni's film, which is tentatively titled NP 42. He is currently working on Dijo Jose Antony's film. The actor, last seen in Thuramukham, has the Tamil film Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai awaiting release.
