As reported earlier, Aashiq Abu is remaking the 1964- released blockbuster Bhargavi Nilayam, which was based on Vaikom Muhammad Basheer’s story Neelavelicham. While the original film had Madhu, Vijaya Nirmala, Prem Nazir and PJ Antony as the leads, Aashiq Abu's Neelavelicham stars Tovino Thomas, Rima Kallingal, Roshan Mathew and Shine Tom Chacko.

Today, on the special occasion of Tovino and Basheer’s birthday, the makers have shared a new poster. The film has Tovino playing a novelist's role, which Basheer had written based on his own life experiences. In the poster, the actor sports a retro look similar to Basheer sans the bald head.

The latest version of Neelavelicham has an additional screenplay by Hrishikesh Bhaskaran. Its technical crew includes cinematographer Gireesh Gangadharan, editor Saiju Sreedharan and music composers Bijibal and Rex Vijayan.

Produced by Aashiq Abu and Rima Kallingal, the film is set to hit screens on April 21.
