Malayalam director Mahesh Soman, who made Sundhari Kakka (1991), passed away on Monday. He directed various telefilms and also made another feature film titled Archanapookal, which was not completed. 

The news of his passing was shared by FEFKA Directors Union through their official social media handle. The caption read  “Mahesh Soman (59), who directed the movie Sundarikakka starring Suresh Gopi, Jagadeesh, and Siddique,  passed away. He is a native of Kayppamangalam. The film directed in the name 'Archanapookkal' is not completed. Directed a lot of telefilms. The funeral will be held at home. Tributes from FEFKA Directors Union.” (sic)

Sundhari Kaaka was a family comedy-drama that did really well back then. The film’s music was scored by Johnson and ended up becoming a hit album. The film also had several other actors like Manoj K Jayan, Prem Kumar, KPAC Lalitha, Mammukoya, Valsala Menon, Karamana Janardanan Nair, and Philomina who played significant roles.
