Veteran film editor Hariharaputhran passes away

KP Hariharaputhran went on to edit over 80 films in his almost 50-year-long career

Renowned Malayalam film editor KP Hariharaputhran breathed his last on Saturday. He was 79. In a career spanning nearly five decades, the veteran edited several hit films including Punjabi House (1998), Saravakalashala (1987), Mayavi (2007), Chathikkatha Chanthu (2004), Pandipada (2005), and Chocolate (2007). He last edited the Sohan Seenulal directorial The Great Indian Road Movie (2019).

Hariharaputhran made his debut as an editor in 1979 with the horror film Kalliyankattu Neeli. He went on to edit over 80 films in his almost 50-year-long career. Some of his other popular works include Sukhamo Devi (1986), Chakoram (1994), Aniyan Bava Chettan Bava (1995), Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshathrathilakkam (1998), Thommanum Makkalum (2005) and Vadakkumnathan (2006).

Many film personalities, including Mammootty, cinematographer Alagappan and actor-director Madhupal, paid their condolences on social media
