The makers of Neelavelicham released the video song Pottithakarnna Kinavu on Saturday. The song is a reprised version of the original song from the film Bhargavi Nilayam(1964). The original version was composed by M S Baburaj with lyrics by P Bhaskaran and sung by S Janaki. K S Chithra has sung the latest version and features orchestra arrangements by Bijibal and Rex Vijayan.

The video showcases the first encounter between Tovino Thomas's writer and Rima Kallingal's Bhargavi.

Directed by Aashiq Abu, Neelavelicham is the remake of Bhargavi Nilayam. It has Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's screenplay based on his short story, Neelavelicham. Hrishikesh Bhaskaran is credited as the additional screenplay writer for the upcoming film. Its technical crew includes cinematographer Gireesh Gangadharan and editor Saiju Sreedharan. The film is produced by Aashiq Abu and Rima Kallingal under the OPM Cinemas banner. 

Neelavelicham was released in theatres on April 20 and opened to mixed reviews. CE's review of the film reads, "Aashiq and cinematographer Girish Gangadharan (Angamaly Diaries, Vikram) manage to get the best out of the scenarios spawned by Basheer's imagination on an anamorphic canvas".
