Raising serious allegations against actors Sreenath Bhasi and Shane Nigam, the major film bodies in Kerala have decided not to associate with the two anymore. The decision was announced publicly in a press meet held on Tuesday, which was attended by the representatives of the producers' council, actors association (AMMA), and film employees' union (FEFKA). According to them, the decision was taken based on several complaints received against the two actors. They added that the names of a few others will be made public once they get official complaints from the affected parties.

M Renjith, president of the Kerala Film Producers' Association (KFPA), made a slew of allegations against Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi. Shane Nigam is said to have demanded the makers of his upcoming multi-starrer RDX to show him the edited footage and suggested some corrections as he felt he had less prominence than the other two lead actors—Antony Varghese and Neeraj Madhav. Last week, B Unnikrishnan, the general secretary of FEFKA, raised similar allegations. Though he didn't take any names, Unnikrishnan made it clear that only a film's producer has the right to see the edited footage and make such demands. Sophia Paul, the producer of RDX, was also there at Tuesday's press meet.

Renjith also accused Sreenath Bhasi of being reckless and unreliable. "He has no idea about the projects he has committed. He also refuses to sign the agreement by the producers' association as he fears it's a means to lock him. It's impossible with such people who refuse to cooperate."

Renjith also stated that drug usage is rampant in Malayalam cinema today, and they'll be seeking the government's help to control it. "It's a poorly kept secret in the industry. Drugs are used in the open now. We've compiled a list of actors and technicians who are into such illegal practices and will be handing over it soon to the government."

Sreenath Bhasi and Shane Nigam will have to complete all their pending works before the unofficial 'ban' comes into effect. AMMA general secretary Edavela Babu added that producers who continue to collaborate with the two actors will have to bear the losses all by themselves.

Producers Listin Stephen, Allwyn Antony, and actors Maniyanpilla Raju and Baburaj were among the others in attendance at the press meet.
