After the last-minute postponement of Prithviraj-Alphonse Puthren film Gold, there's a lot of uncertainty in the Malayalam film industry regarding the Onam releases. Vinayan's Pathonpatham Noottandu and Biju Menon's Oru Thekkan Thallu Case have already been confirmed to hit screens next week during the festive season. Latest to join the race is the Kunchacko Boban, Arvind Swami film Ottu. Made as a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual, the film is directed by TP Fellini of Theevandi-fame.

Ottu was originally scheduled for release on September 2. But due to censor issues of the Tamil version, Rendagam, the makers had to postpone it. However, with the withdrawal of Gold and the subsequent availability of screens, the makers of Ottu have fast-tracked their release plans. Both the Tamil and Malayalam versions of the film will now be hitting screens on September 8, Thiruvonam day.

Billed as a road-action thriller, Ottu has a script by S Sanjeev. The film also stars Eesha Rebba, Jackie Shroff and Aadukalam Naren. It is produced by Shaji Nadesan and Tamil actor Arya.
