Soon after news about her passing away spread, people from all walks of society started paying their tributes online. This includes people from the film industry, cricketers, politicians, and common men.

From the Malayalam film industry, actors Mohanlal, Mammootty, Manju Warrier, Dulquer Salmaan, Nivin Pauly, and many others have expressed their grief in the demise of India's Nightingale.

Though Lata Mangeshkar had sung thousands of songs across several languages, she has lent her vocals to only one Malayalam song.

The song Kadali Chenkadali from the 1971 film Nellu is still famous among Malayalis. Salil Chowdhary composed the track, and the legendary Vayalar Ramavarma penned the lyrics.
