Mathew Thomas, Basil Joseph, Guru Somasundaram join sports drama, Cup

Mathew Thomas, Basil Joseph, Guru Somasundaram, and Namitha Pramod have joined the cast of a sports drama titled Cup. Helmed by Sanju V Samuel, the film went on floors on Tuesday. However, principal photography will begin on February 7 in Adimali.
 
"Cup is about a boy, a badminton player, who hopes to play on the national level," says Sanju, who is making his directorial debut with the film bankrolled by Alwin Antony.

Akhilesh Latharaj and Denson Durom penned the screenplay.

Sanju, who has worked as an assistant director in Om Shanti Oshana, Amar Akbar Antony and Oru Second Class Yatra, adds that Guru Somasundaram essays a significant character in the film. Anand Roshan and Riya Shibu are also part of the cast.

National award winner Nikhil S Praveen (Roudram, Kaaval) is behind the camera while Reckson Joseph handles editing. Shaan Rahman is working on the music.
