Manikandan R Achari is headlining director Chidambara Palaniappan's Ekan Anekan, a film based on the shocking Thoothukudi custodial deaths in 2020.

The film, set in Kerala, also features Run Kalyani-fame Garggi Ananthan, Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam-fame Manoj KU, and Rajesh Sharma. The title comes with the tagline 'The One. The Many Within One'.

Interestingly, Ekan Anekan's script has contributions from eight writers from various sectors, one of whom happens to be a prison inmate named Sha Thachillam. The latter was part of a government-sponsored filmmaking course conducted as part of the rehabilitation programmes for inmates.

Aside from Sha Thachillam, the other writers are Chidambara Palaniappan, Priyadatha, Latheesh Valangi, Thejas Abraham, Unni Meghalan, Arun Warrier, and Deepu Dasan. "Though eight writers are involved in this, the storytelling structure is not of an anthology," a source close to the production tells us. "It's just one film, with a narrative told from different characters' perspectives."

Director Chidambara Palaniappan, who is making his debut with Ekan Anekan, is a Tamil Nadu native born and raised in Kerala.

Produced by Vipin Paramekattil, Ekan Anekan has Shaan P Rahman as the cinematographer, with editing by Samjith Mohamed and music by Sachin Balu.
