Dulquer Salmaan, whose Sita Ramam is currently running in theatres, will be seen in King of Kotha which marks the directorial debut of veteran director Joshiy's son Abhilash Joshiy. Speculations are rife that the makers are in talks with actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu to play the female lead.

If Samantha comes onboard King of Kotha, it will mark the actor’s debut in Malayalam film industry.  It will also be the first time Dulquer and Samantha will be sharing the screen space, although the duo had acted in Mahanati. However, they never had any scenes together.

Abhilash N Chandran, who wrote Joshiy's Porinju Mariam Jose, has penned the script of King of Kotha. Besides playing the main lead, Dulquer will also bankroll it under the banner of Wayfarer Films. The rest of the details are awaited. 

Meanwhile, Samantha is currently working in Kushi with Vijay Deverakonda, Tamil-Telugu bilingual Yashoda, Shaakunthalam, Arrangements of Love, in various stages of production.
